It´s safe to say that your safety is paramount.

While luxurious comfort is typically recognized as combining equal parts high-grade components and high style, the S-TYPE adds an additional component: the knowledge that, should an incident occur, every conceivable precaution is in place to protect both driver and passengers.

ARTS

Jaguar´s exclusive Adaptive Restraint Technology System (ARTS) provides unique protection through the use of ultrasonic sensors to continually calculate the front passenger position along with the position of the driver in relation to the steering wheel, and seat belt use to determine which safety systems to activate and, when applicable, the airbag energy levels most appropriate.*

Supplemental Airbags

The S-TYPE´s Supplemental Restraint System helps to protect passengers by including dual-stage driver and front passenger frontal airbags and seat-mounted side-impact airbags, each monitored by ARTS for tailored protection. Side curtain airbags for front and rear afford additional protection in certain side impacts.**

Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren

For optimum child protection, the rear seat Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH) system securely anchors child safety seats directly, without necessitating use of the vehicle´s adult safety belts.

Energy-absorbent Seats

In certain types of collisions, there is a risk of some spinal and neck injuries, commonly referred to as "whiplash." The S-TYPE´s energy-absorbent seating helps reduce driver and front passenger risk by reducing the force of a rear impact, helping to prevent a rebound effect.

Dynamic Stability Control

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) helps stabilize the car when sensing unsafe conditions, automatically intervening to prevent skids by reducing engine power and/or applying brakes to individual wheels as necessary.***

Anti-lock Braking System & Emergency Brake Assist

The S-TYPE´s Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) provide optimum braking power and control. ABS helps maintain steering control under hard braking. Without ABS, hard braking can cause the wheels to lock up and the vehicle to skid out of control. Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) measures the force applied to the brake pedal, automatically determining if emergency braking has occurred, and can increase braking power to ensure that the ABS system has been activated.

Drive-away Door Locking/ Dual-stage Unlocking

Once the vehicle is in motion at speeds above 3 mph with the parking brake released, drive-away locking automatically locks all the doors, as well as the trunk, to help ensure security for passengers and belongings.

Security is additionally increased with dual-stage unlocking. The first push of the unlock button opens just the driver´s door, while a second push will unlock all other doors – helping to prevent unwanted entrance through the non-driver doors.

Headlamp ´Off´ Delay

When passengers exit the vehicle at night, the headlights will automatically remain on for a set period of time, providing the safety of illumination.

Security System

By integrating with the vehicle electronic and engine management systems, the Jaguar security system can help prevent theft of the vehicle and the items contained within. Each Jaguar ignition key contains a uniquely-coded electronic transponder that must be validated by the vehicle´s electronics system. Failure to secure validation is designed to help prevent the engine from starting.

Traction Control

Traction Control is an electronic system that helps to prevent wheel spin. It automatically reduces engine power and/or applies brakes to individual wheels to regain proper grip when sensors detect that a wheel may lose traction.

*ARTS should not be used in place of the Primary Restraint system—the 3-point safety belts located at each position—but in conjunction with it.
